OpenAI Saudi employee accused over meeting-room recording device
On Oct 13, 2026, DOJ and the Northern District of California unsealed an indictment alleging a 35-year-old Saudi OpenAI product engineering lead planted a recording device in an executive meeting room and was arrested.
Per US News, the FBI charged OpenAI engineer Abdulrahman Alfozan with hiding a thumb-sized recorder in an executive conference room. He joined OpenAI in July 2025 and faces up to 5 years if convicted.
